The San Francisco-based law firm of Bartko Zankel Bunzel & Miller has been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking in connection with a UDRP filing in which the company sought to transfer the domain, bartko.com, from its owner, Ms. Jan Bartko. Ms. Bartko did not respond to the UDRP filing, but a sole panelist of the World Intellectual Property Organization handed up a ruling of RDNH, sua sponte, as the law firm does not trade under the sole name of Bartko, the domain owner’s name is Bartko, the domain was registered in 1998, and the law firm has no registered trademark for the mark, “BARTKO”. The RDNH ruling was handed up on March 17, 2022.
