Australian Company’s UDRP Cut Off By RDNH Ruling

Case Number: D2025-2970

Complainant: TPG Telecom Limited, Australia

Represented by: Bird & Bird, Australia

An Australia-based telecom company, TPG Telecom Limited, has been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking in connection with a UDRP it had filed to gain control of the specialty domain tpg.one, owned by a German company, The Platform Group AG.

The sole panelist ruling the case, Nick J. Gardner, at the World Intellectual Property Organization, handed up his ruling against the telecom on October 9, 2025, after finding the complainant failed to do any due-diligence before filing its case, which would have shown the respondent company had a legitimate interest in a domain that is a natural abbreviation for its corporate name.
