An Illinois-based food-service subcontractor has been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking in connection with its attempt to grab the domain collegefresh.com from its current owner, who registered the domain in 2005. College Fresh, Inc., which also has a trademark for the phrase “College Fresh”, only began operation in 2010, five years after the domain was registered. Its trademark was not issued until 2017, a year after it attempted to buy the domain from its current owner.
A single-member panel of the World Intellectual Property Organization handed up its ruling of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking on August 2, 2021.
