Gridiron Fiber and Lumos Telephone LLC, which operates primarily across Virginia and North Carolina, has been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking in their effort to transfer the domain lumos.com from its current registrant. A three-member panel of the National Arbitration Forum found Gridiron/Lumos had tried to purchase the domain from the current registrant, even tough it had the opportunity to also bid at auction for the domain. The panel also found the companies were using the UDRP process as a “Plan B” approach to acquiring the domain, after negotiations with the respondent failed. The RDNH ruling was handed up on December 20, 2021.
