IT Security Company Labeled Reverse Domain Hijacker Trying To Take GoSecure.com

Case Number: NAF 1954083

Complainant: GoSecure, Inc.

Represented by: Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo

GoSecure Inc., a security software maker serving governments in Canada and the United Kingdom, has been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking for using the UDRP process to take the domain gosecure.com from its current registrant. A three-member panel of the National Arbitration Forum handed up its ruling against GoSecure, Inc. on August 19, 2021.

The company, which has trademarks in the United States, nonetheless did not accrue rights in the “GoSecure” mark until 2016, while the domain, itself, was registered in 1999. Furthermore, the panel chided GoSecure, Inc., in its written ruling, for using the UDRP process as a “Plan B” approach to getting a domain, following a failed purchase attempt.
