A company in Spain has been slapped with a citing of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking for attempting to use the UDRP process to grab the domain emprendedores.com, the Spanish word for “entrepreneurs”. Revista Emprendedores S.L. was found guilty of using the UDRP process to hijack the emprendedores.com from Emprendedores Online LLC, a company that makes Spanish-language training videos for small business owners. A three-member panel of the World Intellectual Property Organization handed up its ruling on October 3, 2022.
The panel found that the complainant not only could not demonstrate any exclusive rights, particularly in view of the generic nature of the domain, and found Revista Emprendedores attempted to mislead the panel.
